Grant Requirements
It's a good time to be a student. Recent changes in regulations that govern financial aid may provide more Federal Pell Grant opportunities for students enrolled online.
Monitor Your Enrollment Status
The amount of grant aid you receive, particularly Pell Grant funding, is based on your enrollment status. If you change your enrollment status, the amount of grant for which you are eligible may change. If you don't enroll for the entire academic year, your grant aid may also change. You must also be making satisfactory progress toward the completion of your certificate; if you aren't, you may be billed for grant you've already received. If you make any changes to your enrollment status, contact the financial aid office immediately
Watch the Calendar
You are required to complete a renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year to renew your grant. You can fill out the forms online as early as the January prior to the next academic school year. Completing the forms early makes it less likely that you'll forget in the rush of finals and summer vacation.
Keeping these tips in mind can mean less stress during your school year. Because grant programs differ from each other, be sure to learn the deadlines and requirements for your specific grant so that you can be prepared for the semesters ahead.
